Genre- Romance, Drama

The best selling book of Jojo Moyes has sparked millions of people with this irresistible and heartbreaking story. Me Before You contradicts with most of the romantic novels you will find around.

Will Traynor gets into a horrific accident and loses his desire to live as he’s destined to remain physically paralyzed for the rest of his life. However, Louisa Clark is determined to keep her boss alive at any cost. She knows that even after years of relationship with Patrick, she might still not love him.

“Some mistakes… Just have greater consequences than others. But you don’t have to let the result of one mistake be the thing that defines you.”

In One Line

A sophisticated love tale between two highly differential people.

My Thoughts

As Louisa and Will were people having completely different backgrounds and mindsets, I still wonder how they even got along – let alone their scintillating journey. I couldn’t tell whether the two were actually in love or not until the last few chapters.

“You scored on my heart, Clark. You were from the first day you walked in, with your ridiculous clothes and your complete inability to ever hide a single thing you felt.”

I found Lou as someone who would speak up about anything that comes to her mind without giving it much consideration. On the other side, Will as someone who wouldn’t speak until required, and giving the look that would frighten most people away.

Besides the first few chapters, I never felt that Lou was working for Will as his carer, but rather as his best friend – someone who spends quality time with him, makes him laugh, but most importantly argue with him all the time.

One important lesson I learned from this book is the significance of letting go – you got to realize when it’s not worth it, which is when you sacrifice yourself for a better tomorrow, that is if there’s any tomorrow…

“You can only actually help someone who wants to be helped.”

The only part I disliked about this book is its lengthy content – it could have been much shorter.

Wouldn’t you want to read a book that involves sophisticated romance between two contrasting people? Certainly, you would, wouldn’t you? Call it a love story or an affair, you would definitely want to try this book at one time in your life.
